Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Classes in Sydney
Learn from 10× World Champion coaches. Train at your pace. Build your mastery. Gi and No-Gi classes for all levels — from your very first day on the mats to international competition preparation.
World-Class Coaching.
Every Single Class.
At High Rollers, adult BJJ isn't a side offering — it's the backbone of an academy that has produced over 10 world champions. Every class is led by black belt coaches with international competition experience, including Head Coach Tadeu Lobato (AFBJJ #1 No-Gi 2023) and 10× World Champion Oliver Silvestro.
Whether you're stepping onto a mat for the first time or preparing for your next IBJJF tournament, the same proven methodology that built world champions is available to you. We run both Gi and No-Gi programs across all three locations with classes structured for genuine progression — not just a workout.
Most of our adult members started as complete beginners. Many came looking for fitness and found something far deeper — a discipline that challenges the mind as much as the body, a community that becomes family, and a practice they'll carry for life.

World Champion Coaches
Not "experienced" coaches — actual world champions. 10× World Champion Oliver Silvestro and AFBJJ #1 Tadeu Lobato teach regular classes, not just special sessions.
Proven Championship System
Over 10 world champions produced through the same methodology you'll learn in every class. This system works at every level — from white belt to world stage.

Free International Seminars
We regularly bring world-class visiting coaches from Brazil, the US, and beyond — often completely free for members. Training opportunities you can't get anywhere else in Australia.

Three Locations
Train at North Strathfield, Parramatta, or Canberra. Your membership works everywhere. 100+ free parking at HQ.
What a Typical Class Looks Like
Every class follows a structured format designed to build technique, fitness, and fight IQ progressively. Classes run for approximately 60-75 minutes.
Warm-Up & Movement (10 min)
BJJ-specific movement drills that build coordination, flexibility, and functional fitness. Hip escapes, bridging, guard retention movements — the foundational body mechanics of jiu jitsu.
Technique Instruction (20 min)
Detailed breakdown taught by world-class black belts. Positions, submissions, sweeps, escapes, and transitions. Techniques are demonstrated, explained, and connected to broader game concepts.
Drilling & Partner Work (15 min)
Repetition with a training partner to engrain technique. Coaches actively circulate giving individual feedback and corrections. This is where technique becomes muscle memory.
Positional Sparring (10 min)
Focused, scenario-based live training. Start from specific positions to practice the day's techniques under resistance. Beginners can opt out — always zero pressure.
Live Rolls (15 min)
Full sparring rounds for those ready. All experience levels rolling together in a respectful environment. This is where you test your skills, develop timing, and build real fight IQ.
Cool Down & Community
Post-class discussion, questions, and connection. Many members stay to drill extra techniques, chat with coaches, or just soak in the community atmosphere.
What You'll Learn
Our curriculum covers the complete spectrum of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, taught through a structured progression that builds on itself week by week.
Guard Systems: Closed guard, open guard, half guard, butterfly, De La Riva, and more. Learn to attack, sweep, and submit from bottom position.
Passing & Pressure: Standing passes, knee slice, toreando, leg drags. How to systematically break through your opponent's guard.
Submissions & Escapes: Chokes, joint locks, and the escapes for each. You'll learn to attack and defend from every major position.
Takedowns & Self-Defence: Practical takedown techniques and real-world self-defence applications woven throughout the curriculum.
Two Styles. One System.
We teach both Gi and No-Gi jiu jitsu — and our coaches are world-class in both. Here's the difference.
🥋 Gi (Traditional)
Train in the traditional kimono (gi). Grip-based techniques make it more strategic and chess-like. Builds precision, patience, and technical depth.
The gi slows the game down and rewards technique over athleticism — making it excellent for learning proper mechanics.
Best for: Technical development, traditional progression, competition in IBJJF and AJP.
💪 No-Gi (Submission Grappling)
Train in a rash guard and shorts. Faster-paced with more wrestling-style control. Develops speed, scrambling ability, and adaptability.
No-Gi is closer to real-world grappling scenarios and has exploded in popularity through ADCC and submission-only formats.
Best for: Speed, athleticism, MMA crossover, self-defence applications.
We recommend training both — and most of our members do. Each style strengthens the other, and our world champions compete in both Gi and No-Gi at the highest level.

🤍 White Belt — Learning the language. Core positions, basic submissions, fundamental escapes.
🔵 Blue Belt — Building your game. Connecting techniques, developing a style, early competition.
🟣 Purple Belt — Technical depth. Advanced systems, creative problem-solving, teaching ability.
🟤 Brown Belt — Mastery approaching. Refining your complete game. Competition at the highest levels.

Typical timeline: White to Blue: 1-2 years · Blue to Purple: 2-3 years · Purple to Brown: 2-3 years · Brown to Black: 1-2 years. Every journey is individual.

Common Questions
No. Most of our adult members started as complete beginners with zero martial arts experience. Our structured curriculum is designed to take you from day one to confident practitioner at your own pace.
Comfortable athletic clothing — a rash guard and shorts for No-Gi, or we can provide a loaner gi for Gi classes. No special equipment needed for your first session.
Gi uses a traditional uniform with grip-based techniques — more strategic and chess-like. No-Gi is faster-paced in rash guards and shorts. We teach both and most members train both styles.
BJJ follows the belt system: White → Blue → Purple → Brown → Black. Promotions are based on skill development, consistent mat time, and competition performance. No shortcuts — every belt is earned.
Yes. Your membership gives you access to all High Rollers locations — North Strathfield, Parramatta, and Canberra.
No. Live sparring is always optional, especially for beginners. You'll participate in technique instruction and partner drilling, and can observe sparring rounds until you're ready to join.
Any fitness level. BJJ will get you fit — that's part of the benefit. Classes are structured so you can work at your own intensity. Don't wait until you're "fit enough" — start now and the fitness will come.
Extremely. BJJ was designed around the principle that technique overcomes size and strength. The grappling and ground control skills you learn are directly applicable to real-world self-defence scenarios.
